On-Site Workshops

Makerspace Adelaide provides councils, schools, shopping centres, and other organisations an easy way to engage with their members.

Our on-site workshops give excellent opportunities to learn new skills, collaborate, and innovtate in a friendly group setting.

Sessions include all learning matter, physical materials, and expert facilitators.

Public Workshops

Learn to solder (Kids)

$695 per session (2 hours)

10 participants, age 10+

This kid-friendly soldering workshop teaches children the basics of electricity and electrical circuits. With instructions and help from our facilitator, they will create a light-up LED shape. Shapes are laser-cut ahead of time, and can be customised to your event. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

Learn to solder (Adults)

$720 per session (2 hours)

This soldering workshop teaches the basics of electrical circuits and techniques for through-hole soldering. With demonstration from our facilitator participants will get to solder and assemble a fully-functional torch, or line-following robot.

3D design and printing (Kids)

$810 per session (2 hours)

10 participants, age 10+

Bring together creativity and digital fabrication in this kid-friendly workshop. With instructions and help from our facilitator they will create their very own 3D digital design. They can then 3D print their design on the spot, or collect it at a later date. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

Learn 3D design and printing in a friendly group setting. With demonstrations from our facilitator, participants will learn how 3D printing works, and have the opportunity to create their own 3D model for printing.

Introduction to laser cutting (kids)

10 participants, age 10+

Learn about the materials, function and application of laser cutting in this kid-friendly workshop. With instruction and help from our facilitators, kids will get the chance to create their own item using laser technology. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

Get to know your sewing machine

$660 per session (2 hours)

6 participants, age 14+

Bring in your own sewing machine and join this friendly group workshop. Our facilitators can help you track down manuals and parts for your machine, and show you how it all works. Participants will leave with new knowledge, and a sewing project of their own.

Sew a Fish (kids)

$570 per session (2 hours)

Age 6+

Kids can learn sewing skills in this kid-friendly group activity. Scheduled as a ticketed event or drop-in session this workshop teaches kids how to cut fabric, sew a basic needle stitch and stuff their own plush toy. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

BYO sewing project

$660 per session (2 hours)

6 participants, age 14+

Have you got a sewing project gathering dust? In this BYO workshop participants can bring their own sewing project and get expert advice and help. Motivation is abundant in this friendly group workshop, and participants can learn new skills and techniques. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

BYO sewing machine and bobbin

3D scanning and replication

$590 per session (2 hours)

6 participants, age 10+

Bring physical items into the digital realm with this 3D scanning workshop. Great for replicating items or digitally altering items, the facilitators will cover preparation of parts for 3D scanning, the scanning process, and editing files for export. Parent/guardian must accompany any participant under 18.

Silicone moulding and casting

$680 per session (2 hours)

6 participants, age 16+

Silicone moulding is a great way of replicating an item multiple times. In this friendly group workshop our facilitators will be covering preparation of the item, creation of a one-part silicone block mould, and resin pouring of a replica.

Materials are provided. Wet area is preferred

Wet felting

$730 per session (2 hours)

8 participants, age 10+

Learn one of the oldest techniques for textiles production in this friendly group workshop. With hands-on instruction from our facilitators, participants will learn the materials, preparation, and overall technique for creating a flat piece of felt fabric.

Materials and equipment are provided. Wet area with water access is required

Natural dyeing

$650 per session (2 hours)

8 participants, age 10+

Skip the fashion store and get hands on with natural dyeing. Our facilitator will teach participants how fabric and textiles were traditionally dyed in the past. Have a go at dyeing your own fabrics with household items in a friendly group setting.
