EDUCATION WORKSHOPS
Makerspace Adelaide has partnered with Green Industries SA to develop and deliver two amazing hands-on workshops that showcase critical and design thinking, as well as preparing young minds for both the challenges and opportunities that are already facing us on a planet with finite resources
WORKSHOP 1: CIRCULAR BY DESIGN
Participants will be introduced to the concepts of linear vs circular economy design. They will be encouraged to pull apart and analyze common products, identify materials and ways to redesign the products with circularity in mind. Inspired by the tools in the Makerspace, they will work from concept to creation supported by two dedicated facilitators.

Cost: $750 + GST per workshop session
WORKSHOP 2: SCIENCE OF WASTE RECLAIMING
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to the application and understanding of material sciences to the processes that go into recovering resources. The session provides opportunities for both students and educators to engage in hands-on STEM activities as important applications to the Circular Economy and Sustainability. This workshop goal is to also help support the messaging of the 'Which Bin?' community education campaign by Green Industries SA.

Cost: $450 + GST first session, $250 + GST for each additional session per same day

ELECTRONICS MADE EASY
Introduction to electronics and student collaboration, using the hands-on program called Electroflash. This is a non-soldered based introduction to electronic components and their functions.
Duration: 90 minutes
Cost: $450 + GST first session, $250 + GST per additional session in the same day.
Students: up to 30 students per session, suitable for years 3 to 6 and years 7 to 10
INTRODUCTION TO SOLDERING
Introduction to soldering and student collaboration, using soldering irons and a small electronic project kit. This is a solder-based introduction to electronics components and soldering techniques.
Duration: 90 minutes - 2 hours
Cost: $450 + GST first session, $300 + GST per additional session in the same day.
Students: up to 24 students per session, suitable for years 4 to 6 and years 7 to 10
INTRODUCTION TO WOODWORKING
Introduction to woodworking and hand skills, using the tools available at Makerspace. We will also guide students through the larger machines and safety aspects in our workshop area. Students will be encouraged to make using recycled materials we have on hand.
Duration: 2 hours

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL FABRICATION
This is a hands-on introduction to digital fabrication technology (3D printing and laser cutting) and its associated software options. This incorporates aspects of circular design thinking vs linear design.
Duration: 2 hours

Students: up to 30 students per session, suitable for years 2 to 6 and years 7 to 10
INTRODUCTION TO FIBRE TECHNOLOGY
From ancient China and Egypt to modern-day, paper making transformed our civilization and helped usher in great technological advances. This is a hands-on session to explore the material sciences of human ingenuity across time.
Duration: 90-minute session
Cost: $450 + GST first session, $200 + GST per additional session in the same day.
Students: up to 30 students per session, suitable for years F to 6 and years 7 to 10
REPURPOSING DISPOSABLE FASHION
Discussing, demonstrating, and experiencing the challenges faced in the textile reuse industry. This workshop encourages creativity by allowing young makers the freedom to customize their designs as well as choose their own fabric and finishings. This session is developed by 'Cinch'.
Duration: 4 hours
Cost: $550 + GST per session
Students: up to 30 students per session, suitable for years 7 to 10
STE(A)M, SUSTAINABILE FUTURES AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Join us in an engaging and hands-on session to help you understand the circular economy and its long-term impacts on learners and STEM jobs of the future. This is not just about sustainability but includes the areas of material sciences, critical and design thinking, human social and economic development, as well as practical engagement tools that can be used to create larger topics of discussion and exploration for your learners.
